My name is Jackson Lewis, I am a 19 year old Hillcrest High School graduate and a lifelong resident of Midvale. I am running for school board in Canyons school board district 1 to be a voice against far right agitators hellbent on dismantling our public education system and sowing division in our community.
About Me
I am a 19 year old life long resident of Midvale and a recent Hillcrest High School graduate. I was determined to run after watching for years as school boards across the country work tirelessly to ban books that tell the stories of everyday people and not to ensure that every student has a hot meal and a ride home everyday. As a School board member I hope to ensure Canyons School District doesn’t fall down the rabbit hole of censorship and division that others have taken, to enhance Holocaust education as an unfortunately high number of young people do not have an adequate grasp of the topic, and to guarantee that Canyons School District keeps teaching history as the way that it happened and not how politicians want it to be.
My Priorities
Put a stop to book bans in our school district and make schools a place for all students to thrive.
Enhance our Holocaust curriculum as a disturbingly high number of young people do not have a full understanding of the subject.
Raise the funds needed to adequately pay our teachers and administrators so we can ensure that our schools remain staffed.
